Essay / The Importance of Being a Doctor - 903
No one knows more about diagnosing and treating disease than a doctor, because that's their job. But a doctor's job, I believe, is also to offer advice and guidance to those who seek it regarding illnesses. That's where education comes in, and it's another aspect of being a doctor that appeals to me. A doctor has all of this knowledge and ability to collaborate with those who research the causes and effects of diseases and develop treatments that doctors will ultimately use. Additionally, doctors are natural public health advocates because they see patients every day who are part of the general public like you and me. Ultimately, my perception of what it means to be a doctor has evolved, but a career as a doctor appeals to me more than ever.
