  • Essay / The Tragedy of Hamlet by William Shakespeare - 1027

The Tragedy of HamletIn William Shakespeare's story of Hamlet, there are many different perceptions of what tragedy could be. In my opinion, Hamlet's tragedy was a direct result of Claudius' foul play on the Danish royal family and his refusal to reveal his evil plot. From these acts, a series of events developed that could have been avoided by a simple act of confession. Claudius, King Hamlet's envious brother, seeks the royal advantages of life and plans to obtain them by killing King Hamlet. Once Hamlet's death is accomplished, Claudius acquires the throne and wife that belonged to King Hamlet. The series of events that follow are all the result of Claudius' actions. A ghost appeared on a dark and gloomy night, looking exactly like the late King Hamlet, telling the story of Claudius pouring poison into his ear while he slept, causing him to die. This ghost told several courtiers and once told Hamlet about the murder and told Hamlet to take revenge for what Claudius had done. This knowledge created grief throughout the country, people began to question if it was true, and tempers began to rage. Anger set in among people at the illegal things that had happened. Beings that man would have enough grief to kill his own brother just to take over a kingdom is a very horrible thing, it would take a deranged person to kill anyone, let alone his own brother. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were told to go and stay. with Hamlet and try to understand what is happening with Hamlet. They try to cheer Hamlet up by telling him that a group of actors have arrived at the castle and are scheduled to perform tonight. Hamlet decides that he will ask the actors to reenact his father's murder to see if it bothers Claudius enough...... middle of paper ...... the sword had been dipped in poison and they were all going both die, accusing King Claudius of everything. Hamlet stabs the king and makes him drink poisoned wine that he had prepared for Hamlet. Hamlet ordered Horatio to stay alive and tell everyone the whole truth about what happened. Furthermore, he asked Horacio to order that Fortinbras, the prince of Norway, be the new king of Denmark. Claudius caused all kinds of trouble and unnecessary deaths to the Kingdom of Denmark. Sometimes jealousy can take over a person's will and turn them into a monster. Once they decide to forgive and regret what they have done, it is too late to turn back. The murder of a king is one thing, but the murder of one's own brother is the worst. By not killing King Hamlet, and simply being the person he was created to be, it would have spared him and his kingdom much death and injury..
