Essay / The who and what of sociology - 1645
1. The study and science of sociology is a relatively new activity, as opposed to general sciences such as physics, archeology and chemistry, which are now used to explain and help improve our way of life and behavior. Many benefits arise from the study of sociology; Understanding the social dynamics within communities or certain groups helps us understand why problems and conflicts arise within them, and how these can be resolved, as well as their impact on our daily existence. The study of sociology allows us to understand the foundations of human behavior in different contexts, the interaction between different classes and social divisions, such as race, gender and age, and the factors that give rise to these different patterns of behavior. Sociology is a study of human behavior as constructed by the human race, as opposed to a study of sciences which depend on natural evolution. Although humans are fundamentally similar, this helps us understand their behavioral attitudes towards any type of situation, especially when there are conflicts of interest such as those between different classes or between communities of great diversity cultural. Sociologists believe that the best way to adequately study and understand the behavior and lives of individuals is to study the social contexts in which they live. It studies social patterns and trends as well as the phenomena behind social change, how individuals adapt to this change and how this influences collective behavior within groups: families, youth clubs and places of work, as well as large-scale global problems such as poverty, aid. to provide solutions accordingly. Sociology is not a precise science and depends on external influences...... middle of article ......the approach focuses on the dynamics of individuals in small groups, adopting the micro -vision. Phenomenologists reject the idea of a defined social structure and focus on individual members and groups of society to try to understand how they see and interpret the world they live in by placing themselves in their environment to try to see things from their point of view. It is practically the opposite and a more complex approach than that of the positivists. They believe that “social facts do not exist but are created and constructed during the process of social interaction”. These two approaches can be compared to a telescope. One end will show everything in enlarged and highly detailed form (the microview), the other will show a small and distant world (the macroview). Both are “real” images of the same thing..''
