Washing hands, using disinfectants, and taking treatments for illnesses is such a common place; we do not realize the radical change that has taken place. When working in a school, it is important to prevent the spread of germs. Disinfection is part of our daily routine and we are informed of any potentially contagious children. Thinking about the impact that germ theory has had on me, I was surprised to find that the social science discipline of communication is very important in how we use germ theory. Knowing what we know now, we must communicate with each other personally, in business, nationally and globally about epidemics so that germ theory prevention can be maintained and improved.
