    After being distracted for a few minutes by my grandmother's dog, I returned to find that a layer of film had appeared on top of the sauce. After nervously telling my grandmother that I had ruined the sauce, she informed me that the layer on top was fine. The coating was due to infrequent stirring, but I hadn't burned the sauce. If this film layer develops during cooking, it can simply be removed by stirring the sauce. The last step is one that I use now, but would never have used as a child. As a kid, I never dreamed of adding a healthy component to my already perfect mac and cheese. Now I make sure my bowl is full of cooked tomatoes. I use a whole can of cooked tomatoes. I place them in a bowl and microwave them. Once the tomatoes are heated, I add them to my finished bowl of mac and cheese. This recipe is the taste of my childhood. At Thanksgiving dinner, I asked my grandmother to make this mac and cheese instead of turkey. She ended up doing both. Kids and adults alike had the mac and cheese with their meals. This recipe is so delicious that everyone was ready to eat it with their mashed potatoes and
