This diversity is already considered a constant of Canadian culture and it is considered a core of practice. In fact, the Canadian population has increased since the growth of immigration, and globalization has also played a significant role in immigration levels (Razack and Badwall, 2010). In other words, the Canadian government nourishes the term diversity and the concept of multiculturalism is truly adopted. Indeed, Canada has been identified as the longest international “peaceful border” (Razack and Badwall, 2010, p. 53), welcoming refugees and migrants from around the world, without exception. Even though Canada's population has increased and multiculturalism is official policy, Canada is a “white settler society” based on the elimination of indigenous peoples (Razack and Badwall, 2010, p. 56). This eradication of indigenous people is due to the fact that these peoples are distinct and therefore not accepted and assimilated into the Canadian cultural system.
