In the modern era, the term "family" is less likely to be defined as it was in the 1950s. Today, more and more Many families are headed by single parents, which often results in the single parent playing both parental roles. Playing the roles of mother and father is difficult because of the sacrifices that are necessary to fully provide for your child. As a child raised by a single father since the age of three, I know how difficult it is for a parent to take on two traditional parental roles. As I grew up, my father would have to play more of a mother role by helping me choose clothes, feminine products, and learning how to cook more than a basic meal. Although my father often bought me clothes a few sizes too small, he often made random strangers carry my feminine products to the store checkout, and he learned not to prepare more than two basic meals; he adorned both roles to the best of his abilities. Single mothers are also capable of handling both parental roles, as shown in popular films such as ET and The Karate.
