Throughout history, many events and things have happened in between. In some cases there are successful events and failures. By 1874, Reconstruction of Texas was complete. In this essay, I will list four successes and four failures that occurred throughout the Reconstruction era. The successes were: the Freedmen's Bureau, the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments, the Implementation Act of 1870 and the most important was the freedom of the slaves. Some of the failures were: the Ku Klux Klan, sharecropping and tenancy, and the Black Codes. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on “Why Violent Video Games Should Not Be Banned”? The Fifteenth Amendment gave the right to vote, they could not have denied you the right to vote regardless of your race, color or servitude. These were great successes because now anyone who was not white could finally have a say in their lives, they could no longer be afraid. These amendments helped everyone and until now they still help us, no matter who you are, or what you are, you have a saying in this world and it will be heard. According to Abraham Lincoln's article, "the Freedmen's Bureau was established on March 3, 1865" to find and reunite family members who had been sold, help blacks assimilate into white society, and create schools and provide education to black men, women and children who were free and clueless. , the Freedmen's Bureau would help them all become better people, so that they would know their rights so that white people would no longer step on them just because they were black. Now they will have the knowledge to know what is right and wrong. They had sixteen schools in Texas in 1865. The Enforcement Act of 1870 was a United States federal law that mandated the enforcement of the first section of the Fifteenth Amendment across the United States. This law was the first of three implementing laws passed by the United States Congress. The Enforcement Act of 1870 prohibited discrimination. They could not judge because of their race and color. It also prohibited the use of terror, force or bribery to prevent people from voting because of their race. He also strengthened the Thirteenth Amendment which granted slaves their freedom. The freedom of slaves was much more than a success. Progress happened slowly, but eventually it got there. Although at first the free slaves were not truly free because they still had difficulties along the way, they were eventually free. They had so many things in their way like the black codes, the KKK, racism, etc. who wanted them dead, enslaved or just for themselves. Eventually justice came and they were free, finally able to get a proper education, marry whoever they wanted, do essentially what they had never done. Legislators in the South and Texas had adopted the black codes. The Black Codes were laws passed by Democrats, they restricted the freedom of African Americans, women and men were forced to sign employment contracts, and if they left their jobs they would keep their money. They could not carry guns, could not hold public office, could be arrested for drunkenness, vagrancy, or truancy, could not testify against whites in court, could not marry whites,.
