The Porte de Halle is located in Halle, Belgium, on the outskirts of Brussels. It has a name in the two native languages spoken by Belgians: in Flemish, it is called Halleport and in French, it is called Porte de Hal. When they built it, they also erected six other similar gates, which were demolished. The Halle Gate was spared from demolition because it served as a prison. The Port of Halle offers visitors a modern presentation focused on the ramparts of Brussels and the role of corporations in the city. The destination is Brussels, Belgium. I want to go there because it's one of the few countries that doesn't have a federal government and still seems to have its country in order. It is also a place that has an incredible amount of historical sites and the fact that events took place in medieval times. I also have a few friends who live there and they always talk about the great weather and how beautiful the city is. Their food and beer is also a major draw. Travel costs, including round-trip airfare, from DFW to BRU in August range from $1,500 to $2,000. The flight lasts approximately 13 hours and is usually a night flight. The hotel in Belgium I would stay at would be the Husa President Park Hotel in Brussels. It is located Boulevard du Roi Albert II 44; 1000 Brussels; Belgium. Hotel rates range from $60 to $70 per night. For food, I would probably cook and eat at my friend's place in Lembic (which is in the same neighborhood as Halle) and ask her to take us to places that serve good traditional food. Some of the places I would like to go are 'TKriekske, Zopicloon and Panos. The price seems to be about the same as here, between $10 and $15 per meal.
