What effects does the death penalty have on society? My first instinct on the subject as a member of society was, "People who take another person's life should not have the right to take their own life either." Put yourself in the place of the victims, the victim families and the fear caused to society in general. The death penalty provides closure for those involved in the tragedy. This helps solve the problem of overcrowding in the prison system, by keeping an intern for 25 years or more. Finally, people sentenced to death generally cannot be rehabilitated. If these people get the chance, they will kill, rape and torture again. There are many factors that make murderers unable to control their impulses, such as: bad childhood, genetic genes (DNA), mental illnesses and brain abnormalities. All of these factors activate deviant behavior.
