Essay / Importance of Leadership in a Society - 975
A society without leadership will lead to chaos. Recently, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat died, leaving his supporters in disarray. Currently in Palestine, supporters are trying to improve life and determine who will replace Arafat. Because when there is an absence of leadership, it causes panic among the supporters. People's panic leads to confusion in their daily lives. Leadership implies that a person must possess certain qualities. There are many qualities that must be demonstrated to be a good leader. If a leader is evasive and unresponsive, then a company will fail. However, when trying to restore order to a society, one person may try to do it on their own, but this rarely works. When working alone or in a small group, three things can happen that lead to further disarray. These things are isolation, too much authority and control. Isolation is being separated from others. When trying to become a leader, isolation often occurs. This can start by creating classes which can lead to defining the people in those classes. For example, making certain classes better than others then leads to segregation. The different classes are therefore better treated and have more privileges. Know that with the death of Arafat, there is no longer any leadership in Palestine, which causes isolation and disorder. In George Orwell's 1984 novel, there is a separation of classes. They have the Inner Party, the Outer Party and the proletarians. All parties were treated differently. As a result, this led to an unhappy and boring life for everyone. But at the same time, this could have been avoided if there had been leadership. Sure, Big Brother or Inner Party was the leader in Oceania, but they didn't show any leadership qualities. Even in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, there are many isolating events. Examples of isolation in the town of Maycomb are the different class systems. For example, Aunt Alexandra shows class separation by explaining her harsh feelings toward the Cunninghams and other disparate families. The whole town shows their feelings during Tom Robinson's trial and what they thought about black people. Thus, class isolation also results in racial separation. Due to the segregation shown by some people in the town, this leads to the death of Tom Robinson..
