    Caffeinated beverages and energy drinks are very common among adolescents, and alcohol consumption is also common among adolescents (Rohsenow et. Al , 2014). At this age, they may consume caffeine or energy drinks to wake them up or stay up late while doing homework. Which can sometimes be useful when working on multiple assignments. When a person consumes a certain amount of alcohol, they start to feel sleepy/tired. There's nothing wrong with having a drink occasionally, especially if you drink responsibly. Recently, people have started mixing caffeine with alcohol, giving rise to alcoholic energy drinks. People buy and consume these drinks to combat the drowsiness that comes with drinking alcohol. So if they're partying, it won't interrupt their drinking and they can consume more alcohol because they won't feel as tired as quickly as they normally would. Alcoholic energy drinks have been a trend in recent years, and this is especially true among middle and high school students (Kponee, Siegel, & Jernigan, 2014). Do alcoholic energy drinks represent responsible consumption? Should companies mix caffeine and alcohol and sell it in stores? Going even further, should the drinks be legal in the United States? Alcoholic energy drinks are harmful because they affect a person's ability to judge their level of intoxication. They also cause people to drink more than they should because they feel less drunk and, for these reasons, people who consume alcoholic beverages. Energy drinks are more likely to lead to drunk driving, among other risky dangerous behaviors (Kponee, Siegel, & Jernigan, 2014). By banning them, we would not stop people from mixing caffeine with alcohol themselves, but we would at least make premixed alcoholic energy drinks less available (Attwood, 2012; Benac, 2011). These reasons alone should be enough to make the decision to ban stores from selling alcoholic energy drinks. In conclusion, alcoholic energy drinks should be banned in the United States because they can cause heart palpitations and sleep problems. They impair a person's ability to gauge their level of intoxication, which could cause a person to drink beyond their limit, resulting in an overdose. They increase the likelihood that people will engage in risky behaviors such as driving under the influence and having unprotected sex. They also increase the chances of sexually assaulting someone or being sexually assaulted..
