What makes an educated person?Theodore Roethke once wrote in his poem “In dark times, eyes begin to see » (Roethke). His quote meant that when we are going through the hardest time in life and there is no hope, that is when we begin to realize how important life is to us. In life, we face many troubling and difficult circumstances that we are unable to prevent. But this happens so that we can learn from them to improve our life because of the impact it could have on us and through this we become educated people in the society. As we saw in Khaled Hosseini's novel "The Kite Runner", an Afghan character named Amir Jan decides to visit his hometown to repair the mistakes and pain he has caused in the lives of those who there. 'have defended during this difficult period. Due to the guilt he felt during his childhood, after witnessing his childhood friend being sexually assaulted by Assef and losing his mother during childbirth, Amir blamed himself for the cause of these problems . Amir tries to overcome his guilt by asking for forgiveness. But when we stand up and decide on a way to overcome them, we begin to feel at peace with ourselves. We were able to see one of the characters in the novel "The Kite Runner" who tries to overcome the guilt that haunted him throughout his life, which pushed him to seek redemption and forgiveness after having ruined and betrayed the lives of people who defended him in his time of need. Through this, Amir learned to forgive himself and others, helping him overcome the life of lies he had lived during his childhood. This allowed Amir to become a wiser person because he had learned the truth. his family and realizes that what his father told him was a lie. Through this, I realize that we have all been educated throughout the situation we are facing.
