THE SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN OKAVANGO DELTA (BOTSWANA) AND ISIMANGALISO WETLANDS PARK. The term sustainability could be defined as a capacity or ability of something to maintain or to maintain itself. Sustainability is about taking what we need to live now, without compromising the ability of future populations to meet their needs. If an activity is said to be sustainable, it must be able to continue indefinitely. Sustainable tourism therefore refers to tourism development that avoids damage to the environment, economy and culture of the places where it takes place. The aim of sustainable tourism is to ensure that development is positive for the local population, tourism businesses as well as the tourists themselves. Adopting such an approach to sustainable tourism development is very beneficial and minimizes conflicts of interest. The term PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABILITY goes hand in hand with that of RESPONSIBLE TOURISM, its state of whether we are responsible or acting responsibly enough in the economy or wise use of our resources. to avoid their exhaustion. It is therefore wise to use our resources sustainably so that future generations can still benefit from them. In the case study of Okavango Delta in Botswana by (Mbaiwa, 2003), he stated that Okavango Delta is one of the major tourist destinations in Botswana. , mainly because of the richness of its wildlife resources and the beauty of its landscapes. The development of tourism in both destinations has raised awareness among local people about sustainable development and sustainable ways to use local resources more wisely.
