    Gambling is the act of placing money in the hope of getting more in return, usually by chance or skill. This tempting gaming dish has been around for centuries, dating back to almost 2,000 years ago when gaming dice were discovered in Egyptian tombs. Since then, the game has been used for betting on races and games, eventually leading to the first “casino” ever conceived in the Greco-Roman era. The hope of high reward for little loss is and always will be very tempting in the eyes of the world. However, due to the addictive qualities of the game; it was banned in many parts of the United States. In 1930, after the first legal casino opened in Nevada after the revenue potential was realized, more states began opening such establishments. In 1988, due to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, casinos were legalized on Native American land reservations. Since then, the game has been debased due to its negative connotation and stigma. Gambling should be legalized at the federal level in the United States in order to raise the standard of living in economically depressed areas, as well as create thousands of jobs and reap the economic benefits of taxpayer dollars, tourism and high employment rates. Gambling has been shown to increase financial potential and importance in regions where it has been legalized. The standard of living increases after having a casino in the area. This is because casinos attract big spenders and investors to the city. Not to mention the fairly numerous police forces, attracted by the spawning grounds of crime near the casinos. This added security likely reduces the crime rate in most areas with gambling establishments. Another side issue of these gambling sites is that they are all managed abroad and abroad, which means that the United States does not benefit from any initiatives carried out on these websites. Not only does this deal a major blow to the American superpower, but it puts illegal money in the pockets of another country or a private company. The supporters and opponents of the legalization of gambling having been carefully scrutinized. Through this, it is easy to understand why many are rallying in favor of federal legalization. The pros easily outweigh the cons in this situation. The high employment rates, tax benefits, and higher standard of living provide a solid foundation that virtually covers the personality flaws that can accompany addictive gambling.
