The reasoned action approach is based on the assumption that workers engage in specific behaviors because it is reasonable for them to do so (McEwen and Wills , 2014; Fishbein and Ajzen, 2010). The reasons behind their actions are often the nurses' beliefs, which they associate with adopting this behavior. Knowing these facts, nurse leaders such as nurse managers could work to solve the real problem, motivating their nurses and providing a sufficient number of patients that they could take care of. This could satisfy the nurse's needs and help her to be more productive in her work and change her intention towards her work. Nurse leaders would also understand nurses, their beliefs, and intentions toward their work using theory. Nurse leaders could work by targeting the nurse's beliefs, which is the most direct way to develop interventions to reinforce or change behavior to provide better care for their staff.
