Piers Morgan, journalist, editor, author and television personality, is one of the best-known journalists of this century. Also known as "Piers Moron" for his controversial, outspoken and influential reporting. He made a name for himself in America and Britain. Starting out as a local journalist, Piers traveled through several journalistic outlets, eventually landing a place in the big leagues of television. Having taken over the nightly TV spot, which previously belonged to Larry King, Piers is currently gracing our TV screens with his brutal opinions and raw media coverage. Piers was born as Piers O'Meara on March 30, 1965 in East Sussex, England. Piers' father, Vincent O'Meara, died when Piers was very young. Years later, his mother remarried and officially changed her name to Piers Pughe – Morgan. His mother and stepfather owned a local pub, which allowed him to pay for his private education. a few years later his parents were no longer able to afford a private school, so Piers was sent to Chailey state school in east Sussex. Pier's parents were considered conservative and strongly supported Margaret Thatcher, which may have influenced his strong fondness for guns. attended Harlow College where he studied journalism. He then landed his first job as a journalist in Surrey, London in the early 1980s. In 1989 he joined The Sun where he became entertainment editor. In 1994, Rupert Murdoch scouted Piers to become editor of the News of the World; Piers became very well known throughout Britain during his time there. At the age of twenty-eight, Piers was appointed one of the youngest editors in charge of a national tabloid. 1995 Piers leaves News of the World and becomes the... middle of the newspaper... being "pushed too far" or simply "inhumane". Piers has made a name for himself, going from a humble local British journalist to one of the most controversial journalists and television personalities in Britain and America. He has used his talent for good and for bad, stirring controversy wherever he goes.
