Our ancestors needed a constant shift in focus to survive, but since then we have evolved toward this mental discipline. The Internet is what takes us back to our ancestors' way of thinking and can even make our brains worse. III. Quote 1 “When we are constantly distracted and interrupted, as we tend to be online, our brains are unable to forge the strong, expansive neural connections that give depth and distinctiveness to our thinking” (Carr 22). The quote says that the more we are online, the more our brain is unable to take ownership and we lose depth in our thinking. We must not lose this because it is the main thing that makes us who we are, the way thinking differently makes us our own individual. IV.
