Comparison of the Teaching on the Resurrection in I Corinthians and the Thessalonica LettersThe purpose of this article is to compare the teaching on the resurrection of Jesus- Christ as noted in Paul's work. letter to the Corinthians and letters to the Thessalonians. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the primary doctrines studied in the Bible because it reveals believers' victory over death, hell, and the grave. However, the belief in a bodily resurrection has been at the center of controversy since the death of Jesus Christ. So, before we begin our comparison with Paul's teaching on the resurrection, we must begin by understanding the literal biblical definition or meaning. of the word “resurrection”. Webster's Dictionary tells us that the word "resurrection" means "a resurrection from the dead or a return to life" (Neufeldt 1145). In the biblical sense, the word “resurrection” is taken from the Greek word anastasis, which refers to a resurrection. So from these two definitions we should be able to see that the basis for believing in a bodily resurrection is believing that one can die and be brought back to life. Paul believed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and he understood, at least to the point of human understanding that one can die and rise from the dead. This was his understanding and one of the reasons he needed to write about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul talked a lot about the resurrected Christ, but some key passages reveal his understanding of the resurrection. If there is one section of scripture in the Bible that provides us with a detail...... middle of paper... the resurrection from the dead has always been a key part of the message regarding Jesus Christ. If there is no resurrection from the dead, we might as well delete all the Bibles, stop all the sermons and close all the churches. All this is useless and useless if there is no resurrection from the dead. Works Cited All Bible quotations are from the King James Version. Henry, Matthew.
