    Gerald Ford was our 38th president. He was born July 14, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska. When he was a baby, he lived only with his mother and grandmother because his biological father threatened his mother shortly after he was born. Her mother remarried and then moved in with her new stepfather. In his early years as a child, he became a Boy Scout and achieved the highest rank as an Eagle Scout. In high school, he was very athletic. He was captain of his high school football team and finally discovered his biological father when he was 17. He then attended the University of Michigan on a football scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. After graduating, he received numerous contract offers from NFL scouts. Unfortunately, he wanted to extend his studies and therefore turned down offers to accept a coaching position at Yale Law School and continue his studies there. He began his political career in 1940. He was a volunteer for the Windell Wilkies presidential campaign in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A year later, he graduated from Yale Law School, placing first third in his class.
