  • Essay / The Notebook of Nicholas Sparks - 1270

The Notebook of Nicholas Sparks Just after his graduation in 1932, on the opening night of the Neuse River Festival in Newbern, North Carolina, Noah met up with her friends Fin and Sarah for an evening of games, food and fun. When he arrived, Fin and Sarah were talking to a girl that Noah thought was the most beautiful and intriguing girl he had ever seen, her name was Allie. They hung out at the festival and drank cherry Coca-Colas until closing time. Throughout their stay, Noah kept trying to ask Allie out, but she kept refusing. A few days after the fair, he saw Allie again and tried to ask her out again, but she refused again. Eventually Fin and Sarah had enough, they decided it was time for these two to get together, so they set up a blind date with Noah and Allie at the movies. After the movie, Fin took Sarah home in his car and Allie walked with Noah through town. They talked about their families and the future, after which Noah and Allie could no longer be apart. They spent summer days dating and fell in love. Summer romances aren't meant to last, are they? Allie's parents thought so. They didn't like Allie spending so much time with Noah because he wasn't rich like them. So, after a heated discussion with Allie about it, her parents decided it was time for them to move and prepare Allie for college in New York. Noah didn't know how their relationship would go if she went to New York and he stayed to work in the lumber mills, so they broke up. But deep down, they still loved each other. Allie moved to New York and settled into college. She started making new friends and was trying to adjust to her new life without Noah. A few years passed and Alli... middle of paper... would never be separated again. They lived a long and happy life with their children and grandchildren, but a few years later Allie developed Alzheimer's disease. When she could no longer function at home, Noah locked the house and they moved into a nursing home. Allie's condition continued to worsen, and every day, Noah read her the notebook she had written, containing their entire life together, in the hope that a small part of her would return to him. From time to time, she remembered him. The last memory they shared together was of them being husband and wife again. By then she was almost gone. Allie asked Noah if their love could take them together, and ultimately it did. That night, they died peacefully in their sleep. Hand in hand, heart to heart.
