Essay / Industrial revolutions and the development of democracy in the world
America and France have experienced revolutions, more precisely political revolutions. While this political revolution was occurring, another revolution was occurring in England. This revolution was poetic. This maturity changed English poetry to such an extent that people would not even dare to call it that. This kind of poetry was so confusing, a bit gothic and very unfamiliar. This type of poetry is widely known as romanticism. Alongside the advent of Romanticism, British life was changing radically due to industrialization and democracy. Industrialization and democracy in England are specific historical situations that arise and just like that, poetry also arises in these situations and connects to these historical movements. British life formed a new spirit and with William Wordsworth's publications he highlights how this new spirit fit so well into his poems. Comment from mo: Don't forget to mention somewhere how romantic the British phenomenon is. Democracy is a well-known term. A term universally understood as a type of government in which an individual has a say. No other than England has a distinct history with the rise of its democracy. Say no to plagiarism. Throughout this battle for power, the English government sought to find out where all social classes had a say. Before the English government saw this transformation to a monarchy with parliamentary democracy, there was a hierarchy. Just like America with its upper, middle, working classes, etc., the English had their own social totality in the 17th century. The mode of production started from the bottom. In this category were the agrarians. This category would be the lower class, the peasants, if you like. They were considered poor and generally struggled to enjoy life while earning little or nothing and trying to provide for their families. The next category, just above the agrarians, were the daily workers known as the middle class. This class was not rich, but it was not poor either. At the top was the heart of democracy. This was the upper class which included kings, church officials, nobles, etc. Not only did government change society, but so did industrialization. Industrialization brought manufactured goods, but it also brought harsh living conditions and few jobs. The industrial revolution brought good fortune to the middle and upper classes, but as for the lower classes, they still faced challenges just as they did facing the social whole. Wages were low, there was child labor, and little or no job security. William Woodsworth was known as a great Romantic poet. The Romantic was a British phenomenon, but Woodsworth was only one piece of the puzzle that launched the Romantic period in English literature..
