  • Essay / Observation: A little girl named Chloe - 613

    I observed a 2 or 3 year old girl named Chloe at my job at the Poughkeepsie Developmental Center for about 20 minutes. Overall, his development seemed to be happening according to his age group. It showed aspects of cognitive, physical, social and linguistic development. I was able to compare his actions with several aspects that we covered in class. She demonstrated her physical development with her gross and fine motor skills. When the music came to the class, she was able to dance and follow the teacher's dance instructions to Barney. Her dance moves weren't perfect, but they were pretty good for a toddler. His walking and running abilities appeared to be average for his age, with some clumsiness and unsteadiness. His fine motor skills include zipping up his jacket, turning pages in a book (with slight difficulty), gluing objects to paper, and coloring. Additionally, Chloe is able to play with Play-doh using a plastic knife; however, she holds it in a unique way, as if she is still learning the cutting technique.
