How do you, one of the billions of people on the planet, affect the environment? Soils can be polluted by household waste and industrial waste. Americans produced approximately 250 million tons of waste, including product packaging, grass clippings, furniture, clothing, bottles, food scraps, newspapers, appliances, paint and batteries in 2010. This equates to approximately 4.3 pounds of waste per person per day. according to the EPA. Many people believe that going green means they have to change their entire lifestyle to something totally strange and uncomfortable for them. This is not true at all, it just depends on how environmentally conscious you are and what you are willing to do. There are many simple ways to use fewer resources without actually harming your lifestyle. You can start by replacing your lights with more efficient LED bulbs. By replacing a regular light bulb with a fluorescent bulb, the reduction in pollution would be equivalent to eliminating a million cars. And if you don't like the color of the lights, maybe you could just replace the closet lights and laundry room lights where it wouldn't frustrate you as much. Recycling glass and aluminum is another important and relatively easy thing to do. Recycled glass reduces air pollution by around twenty percent and water pollution by around fifty percent.
