Essay / My passion in the field of IT - 699
I am applying for a master's degree in IT. My passion for the computer field dates back to when my father bought me my first computer when I was in 5th grade. From that moment on, there was no turning back. I scored very well in Computer Science during my pre-university studies, which got me admission into one of the most reputed colleges in Karnataka. I have maintained my superior academic performance with a distinction every semester. My decision to apply for graduate studies is based on my goal of working in industry or academia and, through this, being able to contribute to society. In ten years, I envision myself as a full-fledged research professional, capable of founding an organization offering software services. A master’s degree is an important first step to achieving this goal. My goal is to serve society using computers as a platform. In India, all official work, from school to small offices, is mostly done on paper due to a deficiency in software and data warehouses. My intention is to start an organization that develops software as per client's requirements and help them maintain their data on a data warehouse with suitable architectures. To achieve this, I am looking for a quality graduate education, with rigorous courses and the opportunity to do research on web technologies and database management systems. During my undergraduate studies, I was part of a team that launched online registrations for the first time in the University Festival using a website hosted on a cloud server. As a result, registrations for intercollegiate festivals increased dramatically and students were able to register for events at their convenience and from the comfort of their homes, avoiding the cumbersome and middle of paper...... Member “yes+” under the Art of Living, a program that supports several social causes. I believe these experiences have given me the kind of personal qualities that will serve me well in my graduate studies in a foreign country. The State University of New York-Stony Brook, with its excellent courses, state-of-the-art laboratories and new Computer Science facility is the most suitable choice for me. I would cherish the opportunity to work under the guidance of Professor Michael Kifer, Research Assistant Professor Yevgen Borodin and Associate Professor CR Ramakrishnan, as their research in the area of databases is related to my interests. Stony Brook University's huge campus, low tuition, and location make it an ideal destination to pursue my higher education. If I am admitted, I guarantee that I will put all my efforts to succeed in my studies..
