Essay / Benefits of Expertise in the Medical Field - 1381
People who decide to become doctors have to make several sacrifices. The training is long and difficult. Furthermore, it doesn't stop at school, as doctors must become familiar with new problems and advances in the field of medical science throughout their lives. However, there is a positive side to becoming a doctor. It's not just about learning complicated procedures and undergoing rigorous training. Being a doctor means that a person must cultivate the positive fundamental characteristics of the human spirit. Doctors must be honest, both with their patients and with their loved ones. They must be above all discrimination. If doctors practice medicine with the right attitude and in compliance with the oaths taken, they have the opportunity to develop all the positive qualities of a human being and improve people's standard of living without sacrificing their own. Becoming an expert in the field of medicine is a long process. This will put off most people, especially because doctors learn their skills exclusively by practicing on other people. “The moral burden of practicing on people is always with us, but mostly unspoken” (Gawade, 2003). In addition to the moral burden of exercising responsibility on others, whose lives may depend on the physician's skills, physicians must constantly keep abreast of advances in the field. In addition, they must constantly adapt to different patients. Even if there are no formal advances in the medical field, the doctor must always remain flexible and accept that something unexpected can happen at any time. Atul Gawade (2003) states that the incredible pace of advancement in medicine does not always keep up with the differences that occur in real life...... middle of paper ...... we have negative aspects in the medical field, the positive aspects outweigh all the uncertainties and difficulties. Their numbers may not be higher, but they certainly exceed the risks and limitations encountered in the medical profession. The satisfaction of treating people, studying improvements in the field, and passing this knowledge on to future generations is worth the difficulties of training and daily practice. Furthermore, the medical profession is often misunderstood and several difficulties arise from these misconceptions. Society places significant pressure on doctors due to the belief that medicine is perfect and doctors are infallible. Medicine will always be imperfect and it will always improve. Being a doctor is a great honor because of the opportunity to contribute to the development of medical treatments and people's standard of living..
