In 1962, nuclear war seemed inevitable to the world, it was the first time that a nuclear war was hanging by a thread. The Cuban Missile Crisis posed a threat to the world, during which the USSR planted nuclear missiles on Cuba. The American response was to threaten to launch nuclear missiles at the Russians. This incident launched the world into a new era, which featured nuclear weapons as a source of energy. The incident of the Cuban Missile Crisis still concerns us today because of the power of the nuclear weapons present, which makes countries want them. Although nuclear technology existed before this incident, the power it represented did not fully develop until this time. Since the crisis, five new countries have acquired nuclear weapons, the lack of concern about the proliferation of the club is worrying. If a nuclear war broke out between India and Pakistan (both of which have nuclear weapons), it would cause more than a billion deaths. Burning cities would create enough smoke and ash to smother the sun, leading to global famine. The Cuban incident also applies today to the possibility of nuclear terrorism. Republican Senator Richard Lugar conducted a survey of 85 national security experts that reached a similarly alarming conclusion. Although nuclear weapons existed before the Missile Crisis, we have never been closer to the horror of nuclear war. “This Administration, as promised, has maintained the closest supervision of the Soviet military buildup on the island of Cuba,” began President John F.
