  • Essay / A reflective comparison between person-centered counseling and...

Counseling is a term used to refer to a developed relationship that exists through dialogue between a therapist and a client. The basic goal of counseling is for the therapist to help the client overcome their problems or learn to cope with them. In the context of the skilled assistant, Egan's (2001) "help" is acquired experience in human behavior that progresses through a client/assistant relationship addressing both problem situations and missed opportunities encountered customers. Person-centered therapy, which is a subsidiary of the existential approach, has direct links within the skilled assistant through its emphasis on client/therapist relationships and demonstrated qualities of empathy. A strong relationship between teacher and student is also addressed in the dimensions of learning. (Marzano & Pickering, 1997) The skilled helping model includes three interconnected steps that help the client, from managing the current scenario that caused the client to seek help to identifying "what is that wrong? » through customer-focused possibilities and preferred scenarios, towards a best-fit action strategy that responds to the customer's new change plan. Reality Therapies' WDEP model requires that the processing of the client's actions and beliefs be closely linked to Egan's (2007) skilled helping process. Additionally, the techniques employed by the skilled assistant, such as brainstorming and scaffolding, have a direct connection to the teaching profession. We can only offer ourselves, no more, no less, to others – we actually have nothing else to give. (Brandon......middle of article......g Hats: An Essential Approach to Business Management.
