    I. GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATIONThe Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is located in the southwest of the Asian continent, with approximately 29.196 million inhabitants as explained in the 2013 world population statistics (1). The percentage of the population aged over 60 is expected to increase by 7% by 2020 (2). A good understanding of the structure and infrastructure of the oral health system in Saudi Arabia is essential to improve existing oral health policies and outcomes in the country. Certainly, Saudi Arabia has shown remarkable improvement in its overall health indicators, including lifespan. life expectancy at birth, infant mortality rate, maternal mortality rate, level of vaccination and infectious diseases (3). Life expectancy at birth in Saudi Arabia is almost 74.04 years for men and 78.25 years for women, showing that women have a higher life expectancy than men (4 ). While the infant mortality rate among males is close to 13.79 deaths per 1,000 live births, compared to nearly 10.15 deaths per 1,000 live births among females (4). Equally important, Saudi Arabia is experiencing an economic boom, and this economic growth has shown a notable reduction and improvement in infant mortality (5). Gross domestic product per capita (GDP) has been estimated to be approximately $20,700 and health expenditure as a percentage of GDP is approximately 4.0 (4). In 2006, total expenditure allocated to the Ministry of Health (MOH) accounted for 6% of the total government budget, which accounts for 44% of all health expenditure (3). In 2014, the government had devoted a lot of resources to the health system.
