Critical Review of EM Limits Power Through PrayerE.M. Bounds wrote a wonderful book on prayer called Power Through Prayer. This book encourages the preacher to become a true prayer warrior. EM Bounds has written numerous books on prayer, encouraging Christians to devote their lives to prayer. Since the writer himself comes from a preaching background, one can clearly see the passion he has for prayer in his life. We hope that other preachers will be encouraged by this and will want to devote their lives to prayer, in order to improve their preaching. Bounds illustrates through his work that preaching has no power without prayer. It also expounds the idea that prayer is the life-giving force behind our work for God. Reading this book inspires you to pray more and be more effective in your ministry. At the beginning of the book, Bounds expresses that we depend on God just as much as he depends on us. Our relationship with Christ is simple, but requires a lot of communication. It shows why it is so important to be in communication and prayer with Christ when preparing a sermon. Bounds says “prayer is the most powerful weapon.” (p. 46) What he means by this is that prayer gives life and strength to all. He goes on to explain what a true ministry of God is and how that ministry can be more effective if we are in communication with God..
