Vincent van Gogh was born in March 1853 and died in July 1890. He was of Dutch ancestry, born in the Netherlands, had four siblings and was a artist of the post-impressionist school of art. He only wanted to become a great artist later in life. He actually aspired to become a pastor like his father. He was not a very badly behaved child, he was well behaved and serious. However, he always drew even at a young age, but he only started taking his art seriously in his late twenties. He painted more than 2,100 paintings, most of which were produced during his last two years of life. He suffered from mental illness throughout his life and extreme anxiety. A well-known episode of his mental illness occurred when he was distraught to learn that his friend was moving elsewhere. Van Gogh took a razor blade and cut off his ear, then went to a brothel, gave it to a prostitute and told her to keep it. She then told the police and they went to Van Gogh's house, finding him covered in blood, trying to stop the bleeding with newspaper. His fight against his mental illness...
