  • Essay / Classroom Management Reflection Paper - 1011

I had the chance to see a student who had difficulty speaking English and did not know many letters of the alphabet. After several months of working with the school and the teacher I was observing, I noticed a change in her skills. She was able to master the alphabet, began to learn to read and count until the 50s. When teaching, she often asked students questions to which she was always ready to answer. She questioned various students who may or may not have known the answer. She favored an open class that allowed the student not to feel bad about themselves if they answered incorrectly. She would delve deeper into a question and idea to make sure each child knew the material. She always returned to a concept that students were struggling with and tried to relate it to a real-world problem. Every child may not understand a concept, but she made sure to work with each child to the best of her ability to ensure that each child received the help they needed. The teacher I observed had great strategies that I will use in the future. His ability to create a class open to questions and his clear teaching habits are something that is admired and something I will strive to replicate in the future for my future.
