    Research Experience I proactively engaged in research activities throughout my undergraduate program. I had my first research experience in the laboratory of Dr. B Anand, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, during my second year. The aim of the project was to study non-fluorescent beta-barrel structured proteins and modify their amino acid sequence to transform them into fluorescent proteins. Our approach was mainly based on the study of green fluorescent protein (GFP) from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria. Tools such as the Python programming language, Gromacs, Ribosome, PROSS and Pymol have been used to study the structural components of non-fluorescent proteins. I gained invaluable knowledge about protein engineering and developed a deeper fascination with life sciences. Later during the fall break, I interned at Globion India Pvt.Ltd – Hyderabad, India, where I worked on “Growth Curve Studies of Embryo-Spread Infectious Bronchitis Virus chicken” under the mentorship of Dr. Sophia.
