Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809 on the Kentucky frontier. Her parents were Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks Lincoln. He and his parents were all born in the South, although his ancestors were born in Pennsylvania and New England. In 1816, when Lincoln was seven years old, he and his family moved to Indiana. Later, as they approached adulthood, they moved to Illinois. Lincoln's mother, Nancy, died when he was only nine years old. In 1828-1831 he traveled on a flatboat on the great Mississippi River to New Orleans, Louisiana. When he arrived in New Orleans, he realized that Illinois was a better place to live, so he returned. He went first to live in a pioneer village, then to Springfield, Illinois. He volunteered to fight Indians as a “citizen soldier,” but never had to fight Indians. He finally decides to start studying law. “He later mocked his military experience, distancing it as far as possible from real war experience, describing it as consisting of bloody fights against mosquitoes and charges against wild onions. » In 1834 he was elected to the State Legislature. He served four terms and also gained prominence while a Whig. He obtained his law license in 1836. A year after obtaining his law license, he returned to Springfield, Illinois, where he and John T. Stuart became lawyers. Abraham Lincoln showed his abilities as a great lawyer; he was very sincere, was a good speaker and had a habit of winning arguments. Lincoln married Marry Todd after a difficult courtship in 1842. He and his new wife moved to Washington, DC. in 1847, where he served in the House of Representatives. President His original plan was to kidnap President Lincoln and use him as an exchange for Confederate prisoners. It was too difficult to get close to the president, which is why he never attempted any of the kidnapping plans. Booth blamed Lincoln and the Republican Party for the fall of the Southern states.
