    DescriptionThe following articles relating to Zora Neale Hurston's life and accomplished works illustrate and analyze her position as an African American artist and anthropologist. Articles include: Constructing Authenticity through Zora Neale Hurston's Ethnographic Innovation by Jennifer Staple; Creating an Ethnography: Zora Neale Hurston and Lydia Cabrera by Lynda Hoffman-Jeep; and Ethnicities and Ethnographers: Zora Neale Hurston and Anzia Yezierska1 by Lori Jirousek. These articles demonstrate Hurston's unique position as an artist and anthropologist who captures the life of African American culture through folktales, literature, and theater. Two of these articles are actually comparisons between her and other ethnic anthropologists of the same period; one being Afro-Cuban and the other Polish Jewish.
