ABORTIONWhy do young adults abort? Are they aware that this action affects not only themselves or the child who is aborted, but that it also affects many people who witness this devastation? Abortion is a major problem in today's society and will most certainly be discussed and brought to a conclusion as to whether this action should be allowed in society as legal or whether it should be immediately stopped by a law enforced by the courts. According to the American Census Bureau's Community Survey: "About 43% of American women will have one (or occasionally more than one) abortion in their lifetime. Approximately 1.5 million legal abortions are performed each year in the United States” (1). According to the Merriam Webster Academic Dictionary, “abortion is the act of removing a human embryo or fetus from the uterus of a woman before the end of the pregnancy” (3). I chose this topic because I am a teenager who is surrounded by this problem. I have many family members and close friends who were once in a situation where they were either too young, but so perplexed and confused that they didn't know what the best decision to make was; or they did not know whether or not to keep the child or abort. Most of my family and friends are minors; they are children themselves. The majority of them are still enrolled in school and are not financially secure; therefore, they are not ready to take on the role of parent. Reducing abortion will benefit society once a complete knowledge of the laws underlying abortion is gained, the effects of abortion are examined, the influences on abortion are understood, and solutions are proposed. to prevent abortion. In conclusion...... middle of paper ......t this - what if your mother had an abortion? What if the child we abort had the destiny of finding the cure for cancer? What if you had an abortion?
