Introduction Since 1998, Lululemon has transformed the way people dress to work out. Through innovative products and technical sports fabrics, a brand was created to offer clothing for workouts such as yoga, running and cycling. Lululemon opened its first store in Vancouver in 2000 with the intention of making it a community hub for people to learn and discuss their fitness and overall health goals. As Lululemon was more than a store offering products to consumers, its goal was to influence every person who entered the store. A fundamental investment criterion is Lululemon's mission to create components that enable people to live longer, healthier and more fun lives. All Lululemon locations maintain strong relationships with local communities and host in-store events such as free yoga classes and goal-setting workshops. The specialty retail and sportswear industry that Lululemon is a part of is very competitive. Competitor growth is increasing and Lululemon is expanding globally and launching a new product line in hopes of gaining a competitive advantage. However, Lululemon has struggled over the past year due to a lawsuit filed against the company over its Luon line of yoga pants and the transparency of the fabric. This has had many repercussions not only on stock prices, but also on consumers and management as a whole. With Christine Day having resigned, Laurent Potdevin was announced as the new CEO of Lululemon. His past work experience, overall morale and consumer approval demonstrate that he is the right person for the job and someone who can turn Lululemon around.
