    Since the invention of the automobile, many efforts have been made to try to improve its safety features. Judging by current statistics, one could argue that driving so far has proven to be a risky activity. In reality, people of all ages and social statuses are considered to be in possession of deadly weapons every time they have to drive. According to the National Safety Council, it is estimated that more than 41,000 people lose their lives each year in road accidents and as many as 2 million others suffer serious, life-threatening injuries (2009). Additionally, it is estimated that at least 50% of people killed in road accidents are due to failure to follow safety measures such as wearing seat belts while driving, driving under the influence or reckless driving.
