Essay / The benefits of music on physical performance - 1396
The study of physical activity has evolved rapidly in recent decades. This growing importance is accompanied by the diversity of studies contributing to the many aspects involved in examining physical activity (Karageorhis, Priest, 2012). . Pre-existing studies regarding music and exercise were rare (13) when first evaluated by (Karageorhis, Terry, 1997) and when re-evaluated in 2011 (Karageorhis, Priest, 2012). the number of significant studies on the subject has increased severalfold (62) . The increase in the number of studies is also accompanied by an increase in validity due to neglect in taking into account variables that may influence the studies. The selection of music that accompanies the exercise is of considerable importance. Music that has personal relevance (such as the subject personally choosing the music) or that evokes specific emotional responses elicits more meaningful responses during performances. This is typically reflected by higher than expected levels of power, endurance, and strength (Biagini, Brown, Coburn, Judelson, Statler, Bottaro, Tran, Longo, 2012). These physical manifestations of musical stimulation are also accompanied and linked to the induced psychological benefits. In particular, it has been shown that musical stimulation produces benefits in physical performance (Jarraya, Chtourou, Souissi). Studies on this topic have been done on university subjects and now the subjects are aged 18 to 21. This will be a review of studies on topics meeting these criteria. This unique stimulation affects many aspects of physical functioning which, when combined, cumulatively produce notable variations compared to a control (unexposed) subject...... middle of article..... .n J Sports Med,: 233-238.Karageorhis, C., Saha, A., D'Auria, S., (2012) Effects of synchronous music on treadmill running in elite triathletes, 52 -57.Biagini, M., Brown, L., Coburn, J., Judelson, D., Statler, T., Bottaro, M., Tran, T., Longo, N., (2012) Effects of self-selected music on strength, explosiveness and mood, Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 1934-1938 Karageorhis, C., Priest, D., (2012) Music in exercise: a review and synthesis (part 2) Int Rev Sport Exerc Psychol, 67-84.Karageorghis, C.., Terry, P., (1997) The psychophysical effects of music in sport and exercise: a review, .Journal of Sport Behavior 54–68.Lin, J., Lu, F., (2013) Interactive effects of visual effects and auditory intervention on physical performance and perceived exertion, Journal of Sports Science & Medicine 388-393.
