    Social media has become a means of communication in today's world and has become an important part of life. No longer in its infancy since its emergence, it has continued to offer its customers varied and meaningful ways through which they can interact with people and events. In addition to this, social networking sites create potential harm to society. Students become the main victims rather than others. The main negative effects of social media include cyberbullying and safety concerns. Several techniques must be put into practice to protect yourself from these dangers. Social media is the biggest industry in the world today. Its popularity is increasing since the day it was first used. Social media began in 1978 as the Bulletin Board System. They are hosted on personal computers and require a user number through which users can exchange information over telephone lines with other users. In recent years, web browsers have been distributed using the Usenet Bulletin Board, which allowed users to post news articles. Geocities was the first social networking site introduced in 1994 that helped users create their own websites. After that, Friendster became the social networking site that acquired three million users in the first three months and served as the launch point for MySpace. Next come Classmate.com, LinkedIn, Tribe.net and Facebook.com. Since its launch, Facebook has become the most popular social networking site among all sites available (Walker, 2011).
