Even though he couldn't draw very well, he always had a notebook with him. His book Horton Hatches the Egg was the result of an accidental overlap of his doodles. His drawing of an elephant, later named Horton, sat atop a sketch of a tree. “It’s a hell of a situation. An elephant in a tree! Seuss made several drafts before publishing his work (Dr Seuss at Work). Before he could publish any of his works, he had to get his name out there. He has created commercials for Standard Oil, Schaefer Bock Beer, Ford and NBC (Moje, EB, Shyo). He founded Beginner Book Inc. in 1958, which became a division of Random House Books (Geisel, Theodor
