  • Essay / An evaluation and analysis of the marital dance program

IntroductionIn this article, a more in-depth evaluation and analysis will be conducted on the marital dance (MD) group work conducted by the Fei Yue Family Service Center (FYFSC ). Suggestions for improving certain aspects of practice are also mentioned. MD was introduced by the FYFSC in response to the lack of marriage enhancement services for the non-religious. The use of group work as an intervention technique constitutes an alternative method of empowerment compared to individual work. Indeed, social workers are able to teach members through the treatment of group dynamics. Additionally, it also allows members to work on their perceived isolation of having to face their problems alone. Pre-group work planning Using the Kurland and Salmon group social work planning model, most of the eight components were considered and covered adequately. It was stated that workers are currently evaluating group work based on KPIs from the initial MD program design. For example, the initial budget criteria were based on the weekly format and for the attendance of 12 couples and not 6. Given their professional competence, the stakeholders should replan this budget because they are responsible for demonstrating that their proposed practice meets the stated criteria. .Risk of harm Although no cases of violent aggressive behavior have been observed during the MD, many couples in the program have a history of domestic violence. As the safety of members is of paramount importance, group leaders should always have a contingency plan in place should such an event arise. This can range from having to remove the violent member to calm them down to more severe measures such as calling the police...
