One in three women will be a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime (ncadv.org). Statistically, if a child was raised in a home with domestic violence, they are more likely to end up in an abusive relationship later in life. The definition of abuse and criminal conviction is touching another person in a rude, insolent, or angry manner under Wyoming's Assault and Battery Statute 6-2-501. Some women's life cycle is one of abuse that involves more than just daily beatings. These women are deprived of simple freedoms, which constitutes a control tactic on the part of their attacker. We have certain freedoms that most of us expect and do not enjoy in our lives. These women do not enjoy the freedoms that most of us enjoy. Most of these women are victims of financial and emotional abuse and have their medical needs neglected. There is a client I meet with regularly to help her through the Allstate Financial Empowerment Moving Ahead program. This program provides knowledge and skills for financial security and economic independence, which helps empower survivors or those considering escaping domestic violence. The Allstate Foundation has partnered with the National Network to End Domestic Violence, Inc. to educate survivors, victim advocates and the public. During several of these situations, my client was telling me how she had been abused and found herself homeless because her abuser had actually signed documents to put the mortgage in her name only without her having to do so. know. Many of these women are told to just listen and not ask questions because they don't deserve anything. She didn't realize what had happened until it was too late. She didn't even know he had her name on a utility bill until... middle of paper... there was a chance there was less. Victims would be more likely to be beaten less, experience no financial or emotional abuse, and have a chance of receiving medical care. Unfortunately, this healthy and happy environment is one that most victims will never benefit from, until everyone is informed about all aspects of domestic violence.
