All Around Town Mary Higgins Clark began her writing career writing suspense stories and she hasn't changed much since. All his books are very interesting to read and will always hold your attention until the end. All Around the Town was one of the stories written by Mary Higgins Clark. This book was a suspenseful, interesting and intriguing book. This held my interest until the end. The plot was twisty and unpredictable, which meant I would never get bored. The story takes place in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The story takes place from approximately June 1974 to September 1991. This affects the rest of the story because this is the time period when the main character was kidnapped and his multiple personalities began to form. The main character of this story was Laurie Kenyon, a four-year-old girl at the beginning of the story who eventually becomes a twenty-one-year-old woman. She has blonde hair, green eyes and a small, fragile body. Sarah Kenyon is present throughout the story. She is Laurie's sister and helps Laurie deal with all her problems as best she can. Bic and Opal were Laurie's kidnappers. Bic had a beard and lots of curly hair on his arms. He was a very dominant person towards Opal and Laurie. Opal had long, stringy hair and a simple face. She was passive and did everything she was told. They were con artists who cheated everyone they met. They were mean and didn't care about anyone but themselves. Justin Donnelly was the psychiatrist who assisted Laurie in her therapy and helped her find the real person that was inside her all along. The story begins when Laurie Kenyon was kidnapped by Bic and Opal when she was four years old. They sexually and mentally abused her during these two long and tedious years. When they did these things to her, like sexually abusing her, she would put herself in a different state of mind, which over time began to become her altered personality. She had four main altered personalities which were Leona, Laurie's wife, Debbie, the baby or courtiers, Kate, the strong leader of the group, and Lee, the shy and scared little nine year old boy who eventually helped bring all the personalities united to become one.
