  • Essay / Website Rating - 771

Now that we live in an ever-changing world, technology is considered the most ingenious tool to keep up with the pace. Without the use of technology, communication would be limited to using mail for delivery and encyclopedias for research. Although technology has improved the way we communicate and find information for research, this information is not always valid. Unfortunately, for those of us who use the Internet to shop, research, or read articles of personal interest, the information is not processed in the same way as a magazine or book. Although this literature is reviewed by an editorial team, literature or information on the Internet can be published by anyone. In order to take full advantage of the use of technology for any purpose, there are five basic criteria that one should keep in mind as an evaluation tool to decide whether or not a particular website is a reliable source of information. Website Evaluation The first criterion that must be satisfied when searching or using the Internet is authority. you must cite them. The author of the web page and their qualifications must be clearly identified. This will include information about the author that will allow the reader to decide whether this person is qualified and a reliable source to use for research. The next criterion is the correctness of the web page. This will include contact information such as an email link and domain. The third criterion is objectivity. The website should have clearly stated objectives for providing information. These goals should not be objective or biased. The fourth criterion is currency. The searcher should look for a date that shows if the events are current or expired and if it is a dead link...... middle of paper ...... this is to bring the consumer to purchase a product, providing more graphics could draw more attention to the searcher. The process of providing data on the leadership webpage is a valuable tool since the educational materials are data-driven and show that the organization is using current information. This is very important for educators, as they need to receive training to facilitate their professional development, as needed. Conclusion Good In conclusion, when selecting which articles to use for this research, these particular articles were found to be very useful. They both met the research information criterion and had up-to-date information on the topics. Works Cited Johnson, Larry and Lamb, Annette (June 2007). Rating of Internet resources.
