  • Essay / An Analysis of Wild Inequalities By Jonathan Kozol

As previously noted, Kozol explains the physical conditions and lack of funding. These two examples can be useful to compare the book with my school. Kozol says the physical appearance and health of students and staff can change students' perceptions and how others view the school and students. Many enter mainstream education and see the collapsing ceiling and outdated classrooms that students use today. This can make an individual believe that this school is poor and not worth investing in. Physical appearance can create the illusion in any individual that only students from poor communities attend that school. Additionally, it may also make them believe that they are lacking in education compared to a well-invested school in a wealthier community. However, classic is the exact opposite of that. This school is a number one ranked college preparatory school in Rhode Island. Although the school may lack physical appearance, it truly contradicts the stereotype that is said about a school with a physical appearance similar to that of the regular school and creates a social and educational effect.
