Essay / Jesus Christ and Theories of the Atonement - 1641
It can be said that in the eyes of God, Christians are nothing but dirty glasses that are stained inside and out of their own fishing. These glasses were once clean and unstained. Now the glasses carry with them these ugly stains, the stains of sin and wrongdoing. The dirty glasses had to accept their punishment for becoming dirty, and the punishment was destroyed by a hammer. The hammer is God's instrument against sinners. As the hammer hit the glass, a pan covered the glass and took the blow of the hammer to save the glass. This pan represents Jesus because Jesus sacrificed himself to God so that God would forgive us our sins. Atonement is the action of putting things right between us and God. This story illustrates a very simplified version of an Atonement theory. Jesus, the “Pan,” accomplished atonement by sacrificing himself for mercy and forgiveness. He died for us so that God would forgive our sins. The Atonement theories themselves are different explanations to help interpret what God actually did to save us. In each of the four theories of the Atonement, Jesus is the bridge that connects humanity and God and helps us connect with each other. We have many theories about the Atonement because there is no single, simple answer to the many questions surrounding Jesus' death. A theory does not provide enough information and does not cover everything that needs to be said. Every theory of the Atonement is acceptable because it has several answers and all of them are correct. Since they give many different answers, they tend to overlap and sometimes cross-reference each other, but they do so to cover all aspects and questions presented in the theories. Since there are several theories of the Atonement, all Christians will have different answers. opinions on which theory best fits Jesus' achievements. Personal opinion on Atonement theories depends on how Christians view Christianity and which model they believe has done the most to turn things around. A certain Christian's take on theories shows us how Jesus influenced their lives, either through Jesus as a teacher, Jesus as a savior, Jesus as a conqueror, or Jesus as a presence. Jesus as a teacher tells us to be good, follow Him, and live ethically. lives. In this model, Jesus saves us from our own ignorance because we do not know how to distinguish good from evil. He wants us to change our indifferent behavior by educating and inspiring each of us through his teachings and examples of love and knowledge..
