Then the coal company is the body of death. In the story, the black box was "taken to Mr. Summer's coal company and 'locked up.' The brain is inside the body, and since the black box is already presented as the spirit of death. It is quite clear that the coal society is the body of death. A body also protects a mind. This is reflected in the fact that the black box is locked and secured in the coal company. Coal is black, so it aligns with the black symbol which equates to the rule of death. Mr. Summers wouldn't want anyone in history to peek in the box the night before the lottery, and Death itself certainly wouldn't want anyone to know who's headed to the afterlife the day after. Additionally, a person's voice is also contained within their body. If two people are too far apart, they cannot get along. Therefore, the body is the vessel of the mind and spirit.
