    Life savers. The delicious tasting candy that lifts people's spirits when they are depressed. They heal people when they are feeling down and bring a fun, happy feeling or tone to the area. Their good taste helps others when they feel alone, or even when they just want to sink. Epidemiologists, in a way, save lives. They save lives by researching diseases and creating effective vaccines. Epidemiologists are essential to our civilization because without them, diseases would invade our world. What is epidemiology? Epidemiology is the study of diseases in human or other animal populations, particularly how, when, and where they occur. They study and try to determine what factors are associated with diseases and how vaccines can protect humans or animals (pmep.cee.comell.edu). They study the causes of different diseases and prevent their spread or even their reappearance. They also speak publicly about their discoveries, trying to make as many people as possible aware of a certain disease, how not to contract it, and how to tell others about it. Epidemiologists don't just do these tasks, because they do a lot more work than people think. Some tasks that epidemiologists perform daily include collecting and analyzing data, supervising professional staff, and communicating their findings to the public. They try to determine which factors are associated with disease and which factors protect people and animals. These factors are then passed on to other scientists around the world, to help not only create a vaccine, but also exterminate it from the world. Epidemiological studies can be divided into two main topics: whether the events or outbreak have already occurred or not. whether events will be coming in the future.
