Essay / The History and Development of Airplanes - 778
The airplane was a very influential invention at the beginning of the 20th century. Since the design defined by the Wright brothers, its shape and size have changed. Throughout history, people have always found a reason to travel, and today, this new type of invention allows people to travel further and faster. Everyone, regardless of color, race or gender, is allowed to travel by this new means of transportation. The evolution of the airplane has had a major impact on the ability to travel, from the first day of the airplane's creation to the modernization of commercial flight. The story of the airplane began with a dream of Wilbur and Orville Wright. They dreamed of traveling through the air, so they sold their bicycle store and began inventing the airplane. The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur were the first to implement this design and fly this heavier-than-air aircraft. They realized their dream in 1903, where they achieved the first recorded flight in the air with control and power. The flight at the time of the trial lasted just over 10 seconds; however, history has been written. They accomplished something few could have imagined possible at the time. A few years later, people began to realize that they could use airplanes to transport people from one place to another more quickly than other means of transportation. 11 years after 1903, commercial aviation was born. The first commercial flight took place in 1914, as the St. Petersburg-Tampa maritime airline was called. This airline was the first commercial flight to be born. The airline was designed to make the trip between St. Petersburg and Tampa shorter and faster. Without the evolution of intrastate highways, the trip would take a day or more before either destination was...... middle of paper...... accident. This is why so many precautions are necessary. Throughout history the only reason air travel is so important is because air travel turns out to be the safest form of transportation in the world, it's even safer than traveling in the family car . The first rule of traveling anywhere is safety. And the creation of the FAA makes air travel safer than most other forms of transportation we have. Travel would be very different today without the invention of the Wright brothers. The evolution of the airplane from its inception to commercial flight changed the way people thought about travel in the early 20th century. Not only does everyone use this to their advantage when traveling, but everyone can travel whenever and wherever they want. Without the creation and evolution of the airplane, what would travel be like??
